As a competitive tournament angler, I count on baits that are going to consistently catch fish. Smack Tackle baits have proven to catch fish on all the lakes I fish, from Amistad, Choke Canyon, Falcon, to smaller lakes such as Coleto Creek and Fayette! For schooling bass the Flitterbait is always able to reach out and pull in several while the deep diving crankbaits from the Gizz series are sure bets for big bass lurking deep! During every tourney, you can check out my gear and always find Smack Tackle baits tied on to my lines!
I spend a lot of time fishing down on the Ozarks. The lakes are clear and receive a ton of fishing pressure. In order to be successful I have to a bait that offers the bass something different. I have found Smack Tackle’s Gizz Series Crankbaits to be the baits that give me the edge. These crankbaits have the most realistic finishes and actions of any crankbait I've ever fished. The attention to detail in these baits is something that I would expect to find only in high dollar hand painted custom cranks. These baits are truly works of art. The action that these baits have is also unique and unlike any other bait out there. I have found these cranks easy to cast a long ways on those windy days when casting into the wind can be a challenge. I did not have to waste my time or money changing out the hooks on these baits. They come with super sharp red treble hooks that make the bait ready to fish right out of the package. I found Smack Tackle’s crankbaits to be very durable which allows me to keep on casting and catching. Smack Tackle’s Gizz Series Crankbaits have really impressed me.
Smack Tackle’s Flitterbait is such a versatile bait that you have to have one in your tackle box. This bait features a tight action and realistic finishes that drive the fish crazy. I can take this bait and cover the whole water column on one cast. I can crawl it along the bottom, burn it just under the surface, or yo yo it back to the boat. The bait has been a valuable tool for targeting deep weed lines and is great on schooling bass. If you are looking one bait to cover a wide range of conditions I recommend Smack Tackle’s Flitterbait!
As a tournament walleye angler, I require products that perform to the highest standards. When it comes to baits, they must be versatile and consistently produce or they’re not in my boat. Smack Tackle’s baits have exceeded my expectations and requirements .Your products are of the highest quality utilizing top notch components and are true running out of the box.
The Gizz series baits, both shallow and deep, have become a go to bait for me under tough conditions. Whether I'm presenting them in a trolling program on in-line boards or on lead core, or using them to crank weed edges and flats, the Gizz series have consistently produced fish. Their unique profile and the “sonic signature” of the knocker combine to catch fish under tough conditions out performing competitive baits in both the size and number of fish caught.
I've also had good success with the new Flitterbait ripping it through weed edges and in vertical presentations in place of traditional blade baits. Thank you for producing your custom, quality, fish catching lures.
John VarnerScott, I would like to personally thank you for the Flitterbaits. I have used these now for a year and they are great. They have a some weight to them, and great action. They look so real it is amazing the craftsmanship that is in these baits are unbelievable. I have caught numerous fish off these baits and would highly recommend them to anybody.
The big girls we were catching on Falcon Lake here in south Texas were mostly all caught fairly deep, with deep meaning about 15-25 ft of water. What we found is that the bigger fish were hanging off main lake points at the mouth of major creeks and were hanging in the deeper water and would move up the point and feed briefly then head back out to deeper water.
We were parking the boat out over the deeper water in about 25-30 ft and we would cast the big Flitterbait up as far as we could towards the shallows on the point and then slowly reel the Flitterbait back to the boat, keeping it just off the bottom and as we got it closer to deeper water, letting it stop and flutter down to the bottom then pull it up quickly to mimic a dying shad. We believe that due to the cold weather the bass were feeding on the dying shad that were falling to the bottom and that is the retrieve we tried to mimic. Same method was used with the deep diving Gizz crankbaits- we would cast far across the deeper end of the points and crank the Gizz down deep then slow the retrieve down and start and stop the retrieve to mimic a dying shad.
No doubt that the winning bait the two days we were at Falcon was the Smack Tackle baits. We spoke to lots of anglers spending their Christmas Vacations at Falcon including Elite Series Pro Alton Jones and short of not knowing what he caught, we had the largest fish and bags we heard of!! Thank Smack Tackle and the Flitterbait for giving me and my partner both our biggest catches to date!
